Chair yoga is an adapted yoga practice that allows you to stay seated while practicing yoga focused poses. It can be practiced by anyone who wants to enjoy the benefits of yoga and may (or may not) have mobility limitations. The characteristics and effects of addiction can be described as ‘separation’. Addiction separates and disconnects us from ourselves, our loved ones, our environment and so much more. Conversely, yoga means union and integration. The 12-step program approaches addiction at a cognitive/spiritual level and yoga asana practice adds the somatic dimension. Combining the two creates a model that truly addresses addiction as the physical, mental and spiritual dis-ease that it is.
